NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION 0, COLORADO RAPIDS 0
NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION HEAD COACH STEVE NICOL
On the result:
"We were looking to get three points at home. We're disappointed not to get
three points, but we were really not sharp tonight."
On being in first place:
"We're happy to be in our position but it comes with certain things. Teams
will try to get more players behind the ball. So individually, we have to
make sure we're sharp and ready for the challenge. We don't have problems
with teams coming here and doing that ... we lost the midfield for some
strange reason. We have to make sure we get ascendancy back."
NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION GOALKEEPER MATT REIS
On the game:
"We didn't create enough offensive chances. Colorado had a game plan to come
in and pack it in and win a point on the road. They did their jobs and we
didn't do our job in creating enough chances. It's going to happen. Teams
are going to going to come in with a game plan.
On his second half save on Kyle Beckerman:
"The ball just came across the field and I tried to cut off the angle as best I could. Luckily it hit the bar and hit me in the backside."
NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION FORWARD TAYLOR TWELLMAN
On the game:
"It was easily our worst game of the year. We came out flat and couldn't complete two passes. We didn't complete our passes and didn't help each other out. It's a little disappointing playing that way at home. It's two
games in a row we've come out a little flat. We've got to figure it out."
COLORADO RAPIDS HEAD COACH FERNANDO CLAVIJO
On what he was pleased with in the game:
"More than anything else, not the point, but the attitude of the team. We
came out to fight for 90 minutes and everybody committed 100 percent. We're
not going to lose many games the way we played tonight. It's not going to
get any easier. We need to play with the same attitude and same intensity.
Hopefully, we get everybody healthy back after two weeks of rest and we can
build from it. It's going to be an uphill battle for us, making changes. We
knew it's going to be hard. We need to take a step back before going
forward, but this is a great start and we need to build from it."
COLORADO RAPIDS GOALKEEPER JOE CANNON
On the Rapids defense:
"Ritchie Kotschau did a great job on the left side tonight as did Ricky Lewis
(on the right side). All the backs played great tonight. We have to keep building on it. Mike (Petke) is a great addition and a guy we can hopeful
build this team around the next couple of years, too."
On the attitude of the team:
"It think we came out here looking at it like it was going to be a what
because that's the best team in the league and you can even see how good they are without two of their starters. I think the guys who came in for (Clint) Dempsey and (Steve) Ralston did a great job. That team is a great
team and we knew that to match a talented team we were going to have to step
up our intensity and our attitude and our level of concentration. Tonight, I
think we did that."
