Quakes players sell season tickets

Eddie Robinson took to the phones to help sell season ticket packages.

While the San Jose Earthquakes players continue to ratchet up the level of intensity on the field as the team prepares for the 2005 season, the Quakes season ticket drive remains in full swing. The never-ending effort to bring fans to Spartan Stadium received a huge boost on Monday when San Jose players Pat Onstad, Eddie Robinson and Wes Hart stopped by the Quakes offices in downtown San Jose to call prospective season ticket holders.

The Quakes spent several evening hours working the phones, calling former season ticket holders in an effort to get them to renew.

"It's fun," Earthquakes defender Robinson said. "This is a great way to sell tickets and connect with the fans. Hopefully this will really get a lot of fans to come out, because they are actually talking to and buying their tickets from a player. These are fans who have been to games and know us as players, so I think that is pretty special to be able to buy your tickets from someone who is out on the field."

From the strong response, many Quakes fans felt the same way, as defender Hart was one of the most successful of the new Quakes "salesmen".

"This is a great experience" Hart said. "This is an important way for us to get in touch with the fans and show them that we care and that we really want their support."

Earthquakes President & General Manager Alexi Lalas was thrilled with the player's turnout and the fan response throughout the evening.

"This was a simple gesture that I know was appreciated by our entire front office staff," Lalas said. "Thankfully, we have players who recognize that they can contribute to the success of our club in ways that don't even involve kicking the ball."

The Earthquakes 2005 season ticket package features 18 games, including all MLS regular season games and special bonus games. The Quakes season ticket pricing once again consists of a Youth (14 and younger) and a Senior (60 and over) discount in three price levels.

There are many more benefits of becoming an Earthquakes season ticket holder than just saving on day of game ticket prices. All 2005 season ticket holders will receive a 2005 San Jose Earthquakes Information Guide, a special Earthquakes 10th Season Anniversary DVD, the ability to participate in the Quakes flexible ticket exchange program, invitations to exclusive "meet the team" events, a discount on season parking passes and other special offers.

Prices for the 2005 season ticket packages are $198 adult ($162 youth/senior) for Endzone, $252 adult ($198 youth/senior) for East Sideline, $450 ($396 youth/senior) for West Sideline and $720 for VIP seats.
