Quakes to host Hawaiian Night

Ching will wear a lei during pregame ceremonies on July 7.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that they will host Hawaiian Night on Wednesday, July 7 when the Quakes take on the Dallas Burn at Spartan Stadium. The game, which also features special ticket and food discounts, kicks off at 7:30 p.m. PT. Along with a pre-game Hawaiian Luau Buffet at the East gate, one lucky fan will also win a trip for two, courtesy of Hawaiian Airlines and Aston Resorts that includes round-trip airfare and a three-night stay at the Aston Waikiki.


"We believe that Hawaiian Night will be a fun night for Earthquakes fans," said Earthquakes General Manager Alexi Lalas. "We would like to thank Hawaiian Airlines, Aston Resorts and the Hukilau restaurant for helping us create such a fan-friendly event."


To attend the pre-game Hawaiian Luau Buffet, fans need to pre-purchase a separate luau ticket for five dollars at sjearthquakes.com or by calling 408-985-GOAL. The luau, catered by the Hukilau restaurant, will be limited to the first 250 people and will be held outside the East Gate, beginning at 5:00 p.m. on game day.


Four lucky fans will be selected to participate in a halftime contest at Spartan Stadium with the winner of the contest receiving a trip to Honolulu. In honor of Hawaiian Night, the Earthquakes will also distribute leis to the first 7,500 fans at the game and Brian Ching, the first Hawaiian player in MLS history, will don a lei on the field for pre-game introductions. Fans are also encouraged to come to the stadium in Hawaiian attire.


In addition to the pre-game luau, halftime will feature a Polynesian-themed band, presented by Hawaiian Airlines and the Hukilau.


The match on July 7 also features special values on tickets and food. All sodas and hot dogs will be one dollar and special six-dollar tickets will be available for the South End Zone. Tickets for groups of 15 or more in the South End Zone will be available for five dollars.
