Quakes to face Santa Clara University on Wednesday

The San Jose Earthquakes announced Monday that the team will face Santa Clara University in an exhibition match on Wednesday, May 19 at the Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park. The game will kick off at 7:00 p.m. PT.

The Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park opened in April of 2004 and is located at 5049 Centennial Blvd near the Santa Clara Marriott. The 11.5 acre park contains three full size, lighted soccer fields.

The Quakes currently boast three former Santa Clara players on their roster, led by second-year forward Jamil Walker, who set the club rookie record for goals scored in a season in 2003. Ryan Cochrane and Steve Cronin were both selected in the first round of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft by the Quakes after standout careers with Santa Clara and the U.S. Under-20 national team.

Later this summer, on Saturday, August 28, the Earthquakes will be hosting Santa Clara University night at Spartan Stadium when the Quakes face the Colorado Rapids and Santa Clara alumni Joe Cannon and Jeff Stewart. Five former Broncos could suit up for the match. For special SCU ticket deals for that game, contact Karlton Gholston at the Earthquakes at 408-288-2600.
