Q&A with the Galaxy's Danny Califf

we stay right outside of Georgetown. Everything about D.C. I really enjoy.

LAGalaxy.com: How did it feel to score your first international goal last month in Haiti?

Califf: It was awesome. Whenever you can score a goal, it's pretty awesome. I wish it would have been in a winning effort, but the fact that I helped our team get a result was awesome. I only played 15 minutes or so, but I think I made the most of my minutes.

LAGalaxy.com: If you weren't playing soccer for a career, what would you be doing?

Califf: I'd be working at a surf shop. That's something I love to do. I love to surf, I love anything about the beach, whether it's just being there or walking around.

LAGalaxy.com: What is your favorite thing to do in LA?

Califf: Surf. And hang out with my 5-month-old daughter and my wife. That's what I do. I don't really do anything else.

LAGalaxy.com: What is your favorite book?

Califf: You know, I love to read. Probably the Tolkien series, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, all three books. My dad read them to me when I was a lot younger and I've read them at least three or four times since. I've read a lot of good books but that's something I'd always go back to.

LAGalaxy.com: What is your favorite movie?

Califf: I don't really have one to tell you the truth. Actually, the "Last of the Mohicans" is something I can throw in. It's a movie I never really get tired of.

LAGalaxy.com: What is your favorite TV show?

Califf: Geez, I like to cook so over the past couple of years it has been the Food Network.

LAGalaxy.com: What's your favorite thing to cook?

Califf: Anything healthy, anything with seafood. I love seafood.

LAGalaxy.com: Lately, what CDs have you been listening to?

Califf: Lately, it's been pretty mellow -- Jack Johnson, Cat Stevens, I'm a big Grateful Dead fan. I do actually like surf music, punk music, but I've been more into some of the mellow stuff lately.

LAGalaxy.com: What sport do you most enjoy watching on TV?

Califf: Soccer. I'm kind of a geek like that. I really don't follow anything. I guess I'm not 'male' in that respect. I don't really care about football or basketball, and I don't care about baseball.

LAGalaxy.com: Who is your favorite athlete?

Califf: Lance Armstrong, just because he's a freak. The things that he has done and overcome have been unbelievable.
