MetroStars waive defender Bonseu

SECAUCUS, N.J. - The MetroStars announced today that they have waived defender Tenywa Bonseu.

Bonseu was acquired along with the 21st overall pick in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft by the Metros on December 3, 2003 in exchange for defender Steve Jolley. He appeared in 14 games for the "Red and Black", starting 13 of them. His season was ended prematurely when he suffered a partially torn left Achilles Tendon in a game against the Columbus Crew on September 18.

Bonseu has also played for FC Dallas (known at the time as the Dallas Burn) from 2002-2003, the Columbus Crew in 2001 and the Chicago Fire in 2000.

The MetroStars will begin MLS competition on April 2, when they host MLS expansion team Real Salt Lake at Giants Stadium at 7:00 p.m. ET (TV: MSG, RADIO: WADO 1280 AM). The game will mark the return of former Metros Clint Mathis and Eddie Pope to Giants Stadium.
