MetroNation is born

MetroNation is the newest MetroStars fan club.

A few weeks after the 2004 MLS Cup Final, a group of MetroStars season ticket holders gathered for an off-season meeting. They wanted to see if there was a way to create a stronger home field advantage for the MetroStars.

The group held a series of meetings over the winter and developed a plan. That plan focused on the creation of a new fan club. Now, after months of work, the new supporters' club called "MetroNation" has become reality.

MetroNation officially announced its formation this week. The new fan club will serve as a complement to the Empire Supporter's Club, who has been with the Metrostars since 1996.

The group, made up of longtime season ticket holders, represents a proud and passionate segment of MetroStars fans.

"The mission of MetroNation is simple. MetroNation is a fan club whose core function is to enhance and create a home-field advantage for the MetroStars and their fans," said Marc Bernarducci, the chief officer of MetroNation.

MetroNation will provide a new and unique experience to the excitement of being a MetroStars fan. Club members will sit in section 115 of Giants Stadium and will be offered a special MetroNation season ticket package.

The club plans on conducting pre-match, in-match, and post-match activities, including road trips and viewing parties for MetroStars enthusiasts. Newcomers to the club will be involved in the planning and execution of such activities.

"Our citizenship, consisting of and open to people of all ages and backgrounds, looks forward to teaming up with our section 101 counterparts, the Empire Supporters Club, and fulfilling its mission," added Bernarducci. "Between the two fan clubs, we offer something for every MetroStars enthusiast."

Anyone interested in experiencing MetroNation, will have an opportunity to join the group on March 23, when the MetroStars take on Deportivo Cuenca in a preseason exhibition match. The club is offering complimentary tickets to the first 50 people who respond.
