CARSON, CA - The Los Angeles Galaxy have launched their "Decade of Stars" marketing and branding campaign for the 2005 season, it was announced today by club President and General Manager Doug Hamilton.
The "Decade of Stars" theme pays homage to both the club's many outstanding moments and the many talented soccer players that have donned a Galaxy uniform during our ten-year history. It will reflect on the first nine years in club history and inspire both fans and players alike to aspire to much more in the future.
"It gives us great pleasure to celebrate our first ten years as a club with this campaign," said Hamilton. "We look forward to sharing the club's history with Galaxy fans throughout the Southland. This is an exciting time for all those involved with our club, a time to reflect reverently on what we have accomplished so far, but also to continue to push ourselves to greater heights as an organization."
The campaign focuses on for major aspects the Galaxy: success, tradition, celebration and the future. Each of the four aspects is described in more detail below:
Decade of Success - The Los Angeles Galaxy has been the most successful team in Major League Soccer through the League's first nine seasons, most notably in terms of wins and losses. The club has also produced some of the League's premier players during the League's history. All of these accomplishments will be highlighted.
Decade of Tradition - The Galaxy has played many memorable matches featuring several unforgettable players during the past decade that are very easily recalled by so many Southland soccer fans. Many of those players will return to reflect on the memories with the club's supporters.
Decade of Celebration - The Galaxy are giving all their fans a chance to celebrate the club's stellar history over its first nine seasons. There will several events planned throughout the season will be part of that celebration.
A Glance at the Future - As in the past, the Galaxy will continue to ensure that they are the club by which all others in MLS are judged, whether on the field or off it. In 2005, they will continue to set the bar ever higher for themselves.
As part of the campaign, the Galaxy has unveiled a tenth season celebration logo, which incorporates the existing Galaxy logo while adding the number 10 around it and giving it some motion. Though it will not be the club's primary logo, it will appear on all commemorative merchandise and will be present on certain specially designed in-stadium signage at The Home Depot Center.
The club is also creating a commemorative retrospective booklet and DVD that will give season ticket holders an exclusive look back at the club's incredibly successful first nine seasons. Also in the works are several events throughout 2005 that will coincide with the "Decade of Stars" theme - beginning with ten days of events leading up to the Galaxy's home opener on April 9 - all of which will be announced when their dates have been finalized.
The Los Angeles Galaxy are pleased to once again offer fans "The Best Seats in the House" at The Home Depot Center. For the Galaxy's first two home games in 2005 (April 9 vs. Real Salt Lake and April 23 vs. CD Chivas USA), the club will be selling 100 seats along one touchline on a first-come, first-served basis. Each ticket costs $150 per game and includes the actual chair the fan sits in.
