Houston Dynamo defeats Chivas USA 2-1

Brian Ching

Carson, CA - In a game that was shortened to 70 minutes in order to allow Chivas USA players to rest up for their scheduled afternoon scrimmage, Houston Dynamo defeated Chivas USA 2-1 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, at 12:00 (CT) on Wednesday.

The win was Houston Dynamo's second over Chivas during the team's preseason trip to California. While in Los Angeles, last week Houston Dynamo beat MetroStars 1-0, UCLA 3-0, and Chivas USA 2-1.

Houston Dynamo secured a 1-0 lead in the first half thanks to Brian Ching's goal in the 29th minute. Juan Pablo Garcia then scored the tying goal for Chivas USA on a 40-meter free kick that slipped past Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Pat Onstead with only three minutes left to play. However, Houston Dynamo answered back immediately with a goal from Alejandro Moreno coming less than a minute after Garcia's score to seal the 2-1 victory.

The win marks the end of Houston Dynamo's preseason stay in California. The team will return to Houston on Friday, March 10 and resume their normal training at 10 a.m. (CT), Monday at the Carl Lewis Track Field, located on the campus of the University of Houston. The team will then head to Charleston, South Carolina on Friday, March 17.

Individual game tickets are now no sale for the 2006 inaugural season. Fans can purchase their single game tickets by calling Houston Dynamo at 713-276-7500, or Ticketmaster at 713-629-3700.
