Houston 1836 head coach to oversee four players during scrimmage

More than 30 players showed their wares for Houston 1836 head coach Dominic Kinnear Sunday.

HOUSTON, TX - Houston 1836 Head Coach Dominic Kinnear will take a second look at four players that initially tried out at Delmar Stadium along with nearly 100 players affiliated to different Houston leagues.


        Today a little over 30 players affiliated with different local leagues; such as "Escuela Cruz Azul", "Deportivo Pereira", STYSA (South Texas Youth Soccer Association), and HFA (Houston Football Association), took part in the invitation-only tryouts conducted this morning at the San Jacinto College South campus.</p>


        Kinnear observed all players for about an hour and a half or so, and at the end invited only four back for a scrimmage this Tuesday February 21, against San Jacinto College.</p>


        "I liked the way the played.  We are going to take another look at them", said Kinnear.</p>


        "They have good technical ability; but physically they are not in the best shape," said.</p>


        Kinnear will take a second look at the four players that caught his attention to join in for a scrimmage this Tuesday at 3:30 pm, at the San Jacinto College-South Campus, located at 13735 Beamer Rd.</p>


        The tryouts were conducted in order to possibly fill two developmental squad positions.</p>


        "I am giving them another chance, but we are not here to promise", said Kinnear.</p>


        Houston 1836 will travel to Austin on Saturday February 25 to face Real Salt Lake. </p>
