HDNet to feature Real Salt Lake on five nationally televised games

SALT LAKE CITY - Real Salt Lake and Major League Soccer, together with HDNet, today announced that five RSL contests will be televised nationally during the 2005 season in high-definition on the Mark Cuban-owned network. Among the featured match-ups is the first game between expansion brethren Club Deportivo Chivas USA and Real Salt Lake, on Saturday, May 7 from the Home Depot Center at 8:00 p.m. MT.
Real Salt Lake will be seen in four additional nationally televised games on HDNet, including fixtures against the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, June 16 at 8:00 p.m. MT and on Saturday, August 20 at 7:30 p.m. MT. RSL faces Rocky Mountain rivals Colorado Rapids on Friday, August 26 at 7:30 MT on HDNet and wraps ups its portion of the hi-def regular-season schedule against the Columbus Crew on Saturday, September 24 at 7:30 p.m. MT.
In the booth, U.S. National Team "Iron Man" Marcelo Balboa and veteran broadcaster Glenn Davis return for their third season together on HDNet. Celebrating his tenth season of MLS coverage, Davis will provide play-by-play, with Balboa, a veteran of three World Cups, providing the color commentary. Davis, who also writes a weekly column for the Houston Chronicle, has previously worked both a color analyst and play-by play for FC Dallas (formerly Dallas Burn) and ESPN's coverage of the 2002 World Cup. Balboa, among 53 finalists nominated in 2005 for induction to the National Soccer Hall of Fame, is also an analyst for ESPN's international soccer coverage, including U.S. World Cup qualifiers.
HDNet is the first all high-definition national television network and currently available to high definition viewers on DirecTV, Dish Network and cable providers like Time-Warner and Adelphia.
The Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Español national television schedules, along with each MLS club's regional television schedules as well as the MLS Direct Kick subscription package on cable and satellite will be announced in the coming weeks.
