'Gaven getting wired' returns

Eddie Gaven is the youngest player to start an All-Star Game.

Seventeen-year-old Eddie Gaven is in his second season with the MetroStars. He recently became the youngest player ever to start an MLS All-Star Game and he is second on the team in scoring with 16 points from five goals and six assists.

Hey guys! I am really sorry that it has taken me so long to write another column. This last month has been pretty hectic, however things are going really well. Within this time, the team has been unbeaten in 5 games and I also participated in my first All-Star Game.

Being named to the All-Star Game as a starter was a huge honor for me. It is something I've always dreamed of and seeing that become a reality was pretty overwhelming. Upon arriving to Washington, D.C., I really felt special. I was handed the key to my very own room, which was awesome! Game time was even better. It was a lot of fun playing with and against the best players in Major League Soccer. Overall, it was a great experience that I will never forget.

Our most recent game against Los Angeles was so much fun. We are really coming together as a team and for some reason we have played tremendously well against the Galaxy. It means a lot to myself and the team that we can play so well against the team with the highest number of points in the league. Scoring a goal in that match was just an added bonus to an already exciting match.

Finally, the editor of this column asked what road city is my favorite. I do not particularly have a favorite, however I must say that D.C. ranks up near the top. I love playing there because our rivalry with them is huge. Anytime we play in D.C. our team gets pumped up and ready to go.

Well guys, I apologize for my recent disappearance, however I assure you I will be back each week. I also will answer any questions that you may have for me. Send them to MetroFan@metrostars.com and I'll be glad to tackle them within my future diaries.

Take care and God bless,

Eddie Gaven #24
