Garcia partners with Grand Street Cafe for event to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Kansas City Wizards defender Nick Garcia has partnered with Grand Street Café on the Country Club Plaza for a night of fun featuring a Celebrity Bartender Happy Hour Event and Auction on Tuesday, Sept. 14, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. CT.

Grand Street Café will donate ten percent of all purchases during the event to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk. Items up for bid include a Deluxe Kansas City Wizards package, a Freddy Adu signed jersey, an autographed soccer ball signed by Landon Donovan, other MLS memorabilia and numerous gift certificates donated by local restaurants, retail stores and hotels.

"I came up with the idea with Wade Hilton, manager of Grand Street Café. We were both thinking about a positive non-profit organization to work with and felt that the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society would create the perfect fit," said Garcia. "Not only does the society work with Major League Soccer but also with the U.S. National Team. We hope to have a fun event that supports the Kansas City Wizards and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and brings awareness to their work and cause."

Garcia along with goalkeeper Tony Meola and midfielder Kerry Zavagnin will work their way behind the bar while other Wizards players will show their support by attending the festivities. Grand Street Café is located at 4747 Grand in Kansas City, Missouri, 64112, 816-561-8000 (just east of the Country Club Plaza).
