Fire vs. Wizards pregame report

After a disappointing 3-2 loss to DC United Saturday night at Soldier Field, the Chicago Fire (11-8-3, 36 pts.) hopes to regain its winning form when it welcomes the Kansas City Wizards (8-5-8, 32 pts.) in yet another critical conference match-up on Wednesday, Aug. 10 during the Fire's second annual celebration of "Kids Night Out" at Soldier Field. The Fire will host the last of its home games before its 56-day break from Soldier Field on Saturday night when it welcomes Landon Donovan and the Los Angeles Galaxy (7:30 p.m., HDNet).

Second Annual "Kids Night Out" to be Held Tomorrow
The Fire and local contributors and businesses have teamed up to help celebrate the club's second annual "Kids Night Out," a special evening of soccer organized by the Fire and the team's charitable arm, the FireWorks for Kids Foundation, to benefit underprivileged children in Chicagoland. This year's "Kids Night Out" will take place tomorrow during the Fire's contest against Kansas City. The more than 150 businesses, organizations and individuals that have purchased donated tickets for "Kids Night Out" will have their contributions doubled by the Fire organization, giving the FireWorks for Kids Foundation a total of approximately 8,000 tickets to distribute to its charitable partners.

Fire and Soldier Field Remind Fans About Prohibited Items at Stadium
With a pair of home contests this week, the Fire and Soldier Field would like to remind fans about the list of items that are prohibited at the lakefront venue. The following items are strictly prohibited: alcoholic beverages; backpacks; bags and purses larger than 8"x11"x12"; balloons and beach balls; cans, bottles or other beverage containers; confetti; coolers; fireworks and smoke bombs; ice chests; illegal drugs; laser pens and pointers; noise-making devices (i.e./horns, whistles, etc.); poles to display banners or flags; umbrellas; video or movie cameras; weapons; strollers; and any other items deemed to be dangerous or inappropriate. Quick Kicks vs. Wizards

Chicago leads the all-time regular season series against the Wizards with a 14-4-3 record, but the Fire is undefeated at home against the Wizards with a 9-0-1 record. The Fire and Wizards will round out the 2005 series with a pair of contests on Aug. 19 and Oct. 1 at Arrowhead Stadium.

The 2005 series between the Fire and Wizards is tied at 0-0-1, as the teams produced a 1-1 draw in their first encounter on June 18 at Soldier Field.

K.C. forward and former Fire star Josh Wolff is currently the Wizards' co-leader in assists with six, as the U.S. international tallied his 5th and 6th helpers (47th and 73rd min., respectively) of 2005 Saturday night to help his team to a 2-1 win over New England at Gillette Stadium.

Chicago's current 14-game scoring streak now stands alone as the second longest in club history, trailing only a 24-game stretch that spanned nearly a year, from August of 2000 through July of 2001.
