Fire 1, Rapids 0 -- quote sheet

CHICAGO FIRE 1, COLORADO RAPIDS 0

CHICAGO FIRE HEAD COACH DAVE SARACHAN

Overall thoughts on the match:
"Keeping [Colorado] to zero is an important element for what we need to keep going forward defensively, keeping teams off the board. At the same time, I thought we should have killed this game off a lot earlier. We made life a little tough on ourselves towards the end. I'm obviously pleased with the totality of the game in terms of guys putting a lot into it. Winning tonight, again, is a good habit."

On the play of defender Dasan Robinson:
"He's a guy that has just continued to get better and better. He got his opportunity early in the year and hasn't looked back. He's still learning on the job, but his instincts are very good defensively. Athletically, he's obviously got the package to deal with players in our league. I was pleased for him that he got his first goal tonight. He's been a pleasant surprise. He's learning on the job and doing quite well."

On sitting midfielder/forward Nate Jaqua:
"That was a decision I made. He needed a break; he was gassed. He never got a break during the All-Star Break because he was our lone representation. He's been going and his tank is just about empty so I said let's relax this weekend and get the tank full and get ready for Wednesday (against Houston)."

CHICAGO FIRE DEFENDER DASAN ROBINSON

On his first MLS goal:
"I just thank God. It was one of the best things that have ever happened to me. I was so grateful that it happened. I've been watching a lot of European soccer and other leagues around the world, seeing how guys get in on the corners and how they fight. So watching them I think may have helped me out."

CHIACGO FIRE GOALKEEPER ZACH THORNTON

On the match:
"First half, we did well. We won the game - that's the most important thing. I don't think we closed the game out like we should have in the second half. But we got the win and that's the important thing. We have a good thing going, so we need to keep it going."

On the Fire's three-game MLS winning streak:
"Very important if you want to make the playoffs. I think it's important to keep an even keel when you're playing throughout a long season. Don't get too high, don't get too low, especially when you're losing and not getting the results you want to get. You still have to be confident in the way you're training, and the way you're playing when you're getting those results. It's finally going our way now."

COLORADO RAPIDS HEAD COACH FERNANDO CLAVIJO

On the match:
"Poor first half. They get the goal on a set piece. I thought we were better in the second half, but we just couldn't finish. We did a better job of keeping the ball and moving the ball around, but to win a game you have to score. They scored and we didn't."

COLORADO RAPIDS FORWARD JACOB PETERSON

On the match:
"It's disappointing any time you don't get a goal. I thought the first half they outplayed us. In the second half, we could've stepped up our intensity. I thought we could've stolen a point, but that's how it goes."

COLORADO RAPIDS MIDFIELDER KYLE BECKERMAN

On the match:
"I thought we battled hard. We gave a good effort and just came up short. Just one mistake on a corner kick. Then we lost a man, but we showed good effort. If we finished some of our chances, things would have been different."
