FC Dallas owns two of top 12 selections in first round at 2005 MLS SuperDraft

Dallas, Texas - FC Dallas owns the fourth and the 12th overall selections at the 2005 MLS SuperDraft which will be held this Friday, January 14 at 11 a.m. (CST) in Baltimore, Marlyand. The 2005 SuperDraft, traditionally a six-round draft, will consist of four rounds in this year's edition. The fifth and sixth rounds of the draft will become the first and second rounds of a four-round draft for the soon to be named MLS development league, which will be held at a later date. The 2005 expansion teams, Real Salt Lake and CD Chivas USA, will have the top two selections followed by Chicago and FC Dallas.


Major League Soccer broadcast partner Fox Sports World will carry the first hour of the draft live at 11 a.m. Live streaming video of the entire four-round event will be available at the League's official website www.mlsnet.com.
In addition to the #4 and #12 overall selections, FC Dallas is scheduled to pick 27th and 28th in the third round and 40th in the fourth round.
The team has owned the #4 overall pick at the SuperDraft once before, selecting Lazo Alavanja from Indiana at the 1999 draft. They have possessed the #12 overall pick twice, taking Lee Morrison from Stanford in 2002 and Paul Broome from SMU in 1999.
