MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER QUOTE SHEET
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22, 2005 - FC DALLAS 2, CHIVAS USA 1

FC DALLAS HEAD COACH COLIN CLARKE

On the match:
"They needed a goal and got it and that gave them a big lift. They're a dangerous club. We've said that all along. The results haven't been great, but if you give them something they have some good players that can pass the ball. We should have won the game more confidently then we did, but we showed a lot of character to come back and get the result we needed."

On the young lineup for FC Dallas:
"I'm yelling and screaming on the sideline, but they are learning as they go along. They've been playing very well for us. There were seven rookies on the field when we scored the tying goal and that bodes well for our future. The stuff they are learning now and as we go on is invaluable to their growth as players."

FC DALLAS FORWARD ABE THOMPSON

On the win:
"It was a great result for us tonight. We kept the home winning streak intact even if we made it a little more difficult then it needed to be. I felt we dominated in the first half, but for whatever reason that did not carry over to the second half. We still dug deep in the second half and showed our character with the comeback. It was great to pull out the win even though they tied it up."

On his first career home goal:
"It was great feeling to score that goal. I entered the match with the score tied 1-1 and felt it was a great chance for me to make my home debut and show our FC Dallas fans what I can do. The feeling was awesome to come in and get the game-winner and help my team come away with three points, which kept us atop the West."

CHIVAS USA HEAD COACH HANS WESTERHOF

On halftime adjustments:
"No, I spoke with them at halftime, and I said to them, 'The other team was better than you guys, I can't accept that.' It was my opinion that we could play a little better then we did in the first half and I don't accept that. You have to do it better in the second half or I will start looking for other guys. And in the second half, we played a little better."

On nerves:
"I don't what type of pressure was on the team. You have to play with pressure, and when you are not able to play with pressure, then you have to look elsewhere. In sports, there's always pressure, a negative pressure and a positive pressure. I understand it's not easy and I can understand that you can make mistakes."

CHIVAS USA FORWARD MATT TAYLOR

On scoring tonight:
"It felt bittersweet; it means nothing at this point. During the game, I thought we could make something of it."

On miscues in tonight's game:
"In the end, it's the really the same mistakes, different day. That's the story of our year. We've been tied, probably five times at the 80th-minute mark and we give up that last goal within the last 10 minutes. We haven't gotten one of those goals yet and we gave up a goal in the 81st minute tonight."

On the lineup changes:
"It helped us cut out the counter attacks and that's what has been hurting us. This is one of the first second halves where we put the pressure on them and I thought we brought it to the other team. Usually, we put pressure on in the first half, but the roles were reversed tonight."

On Chivas USA scoring first in the second half:
"Normally, we go into halftime tied or winning and we end up losing 5-2 or 4-1. Today was the first time we were down and came back to score to tie the match 1-1 and we were putting pressure on them to score that second goal. We just got unlucky. We aren't creating our own luck right now."
