Earthquakes forward Ronald Cerritos named Maggiano's Player Of The Month for May

SAN JOSE, CA - San Jose Earthquakes forward Ronald Cerritos has been selected as the Maggiano's Earthquakes Player Of The Month for the month of May the team announced Tuesday at Maggiano's Little Italy restaurant in Santana Row in San Jose. The team also announced that Cerritos was awarded the Earthquakes Goal Of The Month for his goal May 7 against the MetroStars

Cerritos scored two goals for the Quakes in May, including the game-winner in the 60th minute on May 7 against the MetroStars. Cerritos appeared in all five Quakes games in May, sitting out just 10 minutes of action as the Quakes compiled a 2-2-1 record in May.

Cerritos received his awards at Maggiano's Little Italy restaurant, where the Quakes will be hosting a monthly media luncheon on the first Tuesday of every month throughout the 2005 season.

Cerritos, 30, continued his goal-scoring renaissance in May, as the club's all-time leading scorer headed in the game-winning goal on May 7 and then provided the Quakes with a goal in the second half of a 2-1 loss to the Galaxy on May 21.

Cerritos won the Earthquakes Goal Of The Month for his header on May 7, in which he capped off a brilliant build-up that was started with a Dwayne De Rosario back heel to Brad Davis, who dribbled the ball to the end line before lofting in a perfect cross from the left side. Cerritos was able to leap over a MetroStars defender and head the ball down into the corner past Metros goalkeeper Zach Wells.

The Earthquakes return to action this Sunday, June 12, when they face CD Chivas USA at The Home Depot Center at 5:00 p.m. PT. The game will be broadcast live on 1590 AM KLIV (English) and Fox Sports Net.
