Donovan nominated for ESPY

San Jose Earthquakes forward and United States National Team star Landon Donovan has been nominated for an ESPY Award for the Best Male Soccer Player. Donovan captured the award in 2002 after helping lead the U.S. to a quarterfinal finish in the 2002 World Cup.

Also nominated for the award are David Beckham (Real Madrid), Thierry Henry (Arsenal) and Zinedine Zidane (Real Madrid). The ESPY Awards will take place on Wednesday, July 14 at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre and will be televised on Sunday, July 18 at 9:00 p.m. ET.

The 12th annual ESPY Awards Presented by GMC and Under Armour will gather sports and entertainment celebrities to recognize top achievements, relive memorable moments and salute the best performers. Actor/comedian Jamie Foxx will host. The awards include 19 cross-cutters categories -- which pit athletes from different sports against each other -- as well as 17 individual sport categories.
