WASHINGTON, D.C. - D.C. United announced today the Sterling Youth Soccer Association (SYSA) 4v4 Festival - Presented by D.C. United will be held on July 9 and 10 at the Paul Henken Fields in Sterling, Virginia. Entry Fee per team is $195 and includes a ticket for each team member to the July 9 match-up between the MLS Cup Finalists D.C. United and the Kansas City Wizards (6 p.m. EST). D.C. United players and the team mascot, Talon, are scheduled to appear at the tournament.
"SYSA is privileged to have a strong working relationship with the 2004 MLS Cup Champions, D.C. United. We're looking forward to bringing the community together to play the world's most popular game right here in Northern Virginia," said Tournament Director Duffy Newman. "What better way to showcase 'The People's Game' than in a festival format? We're bringing together the novices of the game today in the under-seven age group, coupled with current professionals at the peak of their game. We look forward to hosting an unforgettable inaugural event!"
Every player registered for the tournament will receive both a ticket to the July 9 match and a D.C. United t-shirt. Team rosters are limited to six players. Medals or trophies will be awarded to teams that finish in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. All age groups are guaranteed three games and the tournament is open to all House & Travel players. The tournament will include both boys and girls teams. There will be two divisions, Premier and Classic, each of which will include the following age groups: U-7, U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-18.
