D.C. United release Eliseo Quintanilla

WASHINGTON, D.C. - D.C. United announced today that Eliseo Quintanilla, upon his request, has been released from the team. The 22-year old midfielder has been with the team since July of 2002.

"Eliseo has asked for his release from the club, and we have granted his request," said United Technical Director Dave Kasper. "It's important for a young player to be playing on a regular basis and we want to do what's in the best interest for him. Eliseo has been a great guy on and off the field, and we wish him the best of luck in his career."

In two and a half years with the team, Quintanilla has seen time in 27 MLS games (21 starts), all of which came during the 2002 and 2003 seasons. He missed a large portion of the 2004 season due to a broken right fibula, suffered during the preseason.
