D.C. United to face Pumas in semifinal round of CONCACAF Champions Cup

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Following last night's 2-1 victory over Harbour View FC, D.C. United has advanced to the CONCACAF Champions Cup semi-final round and will face the two-time defending Mexican Champions, Pumas UNAM. The first-ever meeting between the two teams will take place on April 6 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., in what is sure to be a competitive match. Kickoff for the April 6 game is set for 7:30 p.m.

"D.C. United is anticipating a very challenging, competitive match-up with the reigning champions of Mexico," said Kevin Payne, President and CEO of D.C. United. "This game will be the first-ever meeting between current Mexican and American champions, in a meaningful game, and we are looking forward to the test."

United will have a busy two weeks to begin the month of April, as they have five games scheduled in just two weeks time. The April 6 game with Pumas comes just four days after the Major League Soccer season-opener versus Chivas USA and three days before the home-opener versus the Chicago Fire. Following the Fire game on April 9, United will face Pumas in Mexico City on April 13 or 14 in the second leg of the semi-finals and then travel back to the States for a game in Columbus, Ohio versus the Crew on April 15.

Both CONCACAF games versus Pumas are expected to be broadcast on Fox Soccer Channel. Broadcast details will be released in the near future.

D.C. United notched two 2-1 victories over Harbour View to advance to the semis, while Pumas snuck by their quarterfinal opponent Olimpia, following a 1-1 draw on March 9 and a 2-1 extra-time victory on Wednesday (4/16) to advance 3-2 on aggregate.
