D.C. United to co-host United Legacy Cup on Oct. 15

WASHINGTON, D.C. - D.C. United, in conjunction with Soccer '94, is set to host the United Legacy Cup, a free youth soccer tournament and international festival, on October 15. The sixth annual event will take place at East Anacostia Park in southeast DC and will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"Fall is such a great time of year for youth soccer in this region," said Catherine Marquette, United's Community Relations Director and Executive Director of United for D.C. "We are pleased to partner with Soccer '94 on the United Legacy Cup to ensure that the children and young people of the District of Columbia have the same opportunities to participate in the sport as do any other child."

The tournament includes age groups ranging from U-10 to U-19 and follows a 4v4 format until the final, when teams will compete 7v7. Each team is allowed 10 players per team. In addition to the tournament, there will be various D.C. United and other soccer-related inflatables as part of the day's festivities, and United players and Talon are scheduled to make appearances. Participants in the event will receive D.C. United goody bags and Kicks for Kids tickets to that night's D.C. United match at RFK Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
