Crew's Scott starts at Olympic Games

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Columbus Crew forward Erick Scott started today for Costa Rica in a 0-0 tie against Morocco in their opening group game of the Summer Olympics in Greece. Scott played the full 90 minutes in the tie.


Men's soccer in the Olympics is comprised of the Under-23 national teams for each country.


Scott has appeared in six games for Columbus this season, with two starts. He tallied an assist in The Crew's 2-1 Open Cup win over Syracuse. Scott has missed a total of seven game this season while with Costa Rica, three for World Cup qualifying and four so far with the Olympic team.


Costa Rica plays Iraq on August 15 and Portugal on August 18. The top two teams in each four-team group advance to the quarterfinals.


Scott signed with the Crew as a discovery player on March 26, 2004.
