COLUMBUS, Ohio - Columbus Crew goalkeeper Jon Busch and midfielder/defender Duncan Oughton each underwent successful surgeries today.
Busch had Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery on his right knee after tearing his ACL just before halftime of The Crew's game at Los Angeles on Wednesday, May 25. Busch's rehabilitation time will take 6-8 months.</p>
Oughton had cartilage transplant surgery on his right knee, which will now be followed by a 9-12 month recovery period. Oughton re-injured the right knee prior to the start of the 2005 season while continuing to rehabilitate from an injury sustained in The Crew's final playoff game vs. New England on Oct. 31, 2004. He had surgery for the initial injury to the right knee in early November of 2004.</p>
The surgeries were performed by Dr. Peter Edwards, Jr., MD at the Ohio Orthopedic Center of Excellence this morning.</p>
Busch, Oughton and midfielder Ross Paule (post-concussion syndrome) have all been put on the season ending injury list and will miss the remainder of the 2005 season.
