The Crew play host to the Chicago Fire on Tuesday, July 20, at 7:30 p.m. at Crew Stadium in the U.S. Open Cup's Round of 16. Tickets are currently on sale, priced at regular MLS Crew pricing, and are also included in the full-season ticket package as "International Game."

Columbus advanced to the Round of 16 with a 2-1 win over the A-League's Syracuse Salty Dogs in the Round of 32 on June 30 at Columbus Crew Stadium. Midfielder Ross Paule tallied a stoppage-time penalty kick for the game-winner, after midfielder Kyle Martino was taken down just inside the box by Syracuse defender Rene Rivas. Paule slotted the PK to the left of the outstretched arms of Syracuse goalkeeper Paul Nagy.

The Crew, which outshot Syracuse 17-4 on the night (7-1 on goal), looked like it had the game won when forward Edson Buddle scored in the 70th minute to put the Black & Gold on top 1-0. But Syracuse's Scott Schweitzer knocked home a loose ball just outside the Crew box in the 81st minute to tie the game at 1-1. It was Syracuse's only shot on goal. Costa Rican forward Erick Scott tallied his first point of any kind for The Crew, assisting on Buddle's goal.
