Crew 2, Real 1 -- quote sheet

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER QUOTE SHEET
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2005 - COLUMBUS CREW 2, REAL SALT LAKE 1

REAL SALT LAKE HEAD COACH JOHN ELLINGER

On giving up the goal right before the half:

"It is so demoralizing to give up a score just before halftime and it takes away all the confidence that you had going into the half."

On the play of Melvin Tarley:
"Melvin is a young player, he battled back into the game tonight and created more opportunities. We certainly got enough chances to win the game."

On taking shots from long range:
"In this game you take opportunities because you may not get another chance. The offense is working when you create chances and then finish them."

REAL SALT LAKE FORWARD ANDY WILLIAMS

On the play in the first half:

"We had some miscommunication where a couple of guys were covering the same guys and someone was wide open."

On the outlook for next season:
"Hopefully the second half tonight was the start of next year. It happens all year where we take 10 shots and don't score, and the other team takes two shots and scores on both. We need to do a better job of finishing our chances."

On taking long-range shots:
"We had to take what the defense was giving us. If you have any opportunity you have to take it or we are never going to score."

COLUMBUS CREW INTERIM HEAD COACH ROBERT WARZYCHA

On the play of Real Salt Lake:

"I was worried about the turnovers because that is where Salt Lake makes you pay. The second half was really bad for us but we got the win."

On the play of Edson Buddle:
"Edson is a good forward because he is capable of scoring goals and he finished his opportunities tonight. The second goal was fantastic."

COLUMBUS CREW FORWARD EDSON BUDDLE

On his first goal:

"It was a good ball from Chris (Henderson) and I kind of mis-hit it and I was lucky to find the back of the net."

On his play tonight:
"I try to work on both feet in practice and this game the ball happened to land on my left foot, which is my less dominant, but I hit both shots well and they found the right place."
