Crew 1, United 0 -- quote sheet

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER QUOTE SHEET
FRIDAY, APRIL 15, 2005 - COLUMBUS CREW 1, D.C. UNITED 0

COLUMBUS CREW HEAD COACH GREG ANDRULIS

On the game:
"It was a good three points at home and a good shutout. Jon Busch was absolutely outstanding. He had a couple of big saves. We need to do a little better finishing the chances we have but those will come. It's (3 points) huge. As we learned last year, everybody's so competitive and in our division it's tough top to bottom. And you have to take care of business at home somehow and we found a way tonight."

On the goal:
"It hits the back of the net, it counts. Just a great effort by Edson. He stayed with it and never gave up on it, found a way. That's what good goal scorers do. Sometimes you get the beautiful ones and sometimes you just grunt it out and that one he just grounded it out."

COLUMBUS CREW GOALKEEPER JON BUSCH

On the game:
"It was a total team effort. Some days I have to work harder than others. The most important thing is getting three points. D.C. is a very dangerous team. We didn't take very good care of the ball. We have to do better a better job holding the ball and killing the game off."

COLUMBUS CREW FORWARD EDSON BUDDLE

On the game:
"It was a scrappy night. We had to battle it out. It was that kind of game. It was a good ball from Simon (Elliott) and it was able to find its way to me through the traffic. I was able to get a good foot on it. It is always good to win at home and to start of the season this way is good. We just need to focus on playing the full 90 minutes. That will come as the season goes forward."

D.C. UNITED COACH PETER NOWAK

On the game:
"Overall, the better team lost today. We are disappointed. We played five times against Columbus - four times last year and one this year - and they got four free kicks and one PK. And this is the most frustrating thing I have ever seen. I am really proud of this team. They show character and how to respond. I am happy how they responded tonight. We felt we couldn't play the same guys for 90 minutes. We are very comfortable with our roster and the guys showed tonight that they have great potential."

D.C. UNITED MIDFIELDER JOSH GROS

On the game:
"We were on the second half and we had a lot of opportunities. It seemed like Jon Busch was saving everything. We couldn't get anything by him. We had our opportunities, but unfortunately we didn't finish on any of them."

D.C. UNITED MIDFIELDER FREDDY ADU

On the game:
"We gave it everything we've got. Some of the guys are tired and needed the rest, but we came in and gave it everything we had. Jaime [Moreno] came in and played his heart out, Alecko [Eskandarian] came in and played his heart out, [Christian] Gomez came in and played his heart out. The people who filled in today did a great job. We just wanted to get a result today and we were just unlucky. That is the story to our season so far. We can't buy a goal. Once we start finishing our chances, we will blow teams away. ight now we can't worry about, we just have to keep pushing and pushing. The last 30 minutes of the half we just dominated. But you know what, at the end of the day they got the win. Credit to them. We just have to keep pushing."
