Club Deportivo Chivas USA to host D.C. United on April 2 in MLS expansion team's historic first match

Club Deportivo Chivas USA announced Wednesday that it will open its inaugural season at home, when it plays host to defending MLS champions D.C. United at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California in the first game of the Major League Soccer's 2005 season. This historic match between MLS's new Mexican- owned franchise and the four-time MLS champions -- featuring stars Jaime Moreno, Alecko Eskandarian and Freddy Adu in their only game against Chivas USA in Los Angeles -- will broadcast live on ABC Sports on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 12 p.m. PT.

"We are excited to take the field in front of a national audience in the United States in our first official match," said Antonio Cué, President and Co-Owner of Club Deportivo Chivas USA. "And what better way than against D.C. United, last year's best team, since in 2005 they can only hope to be second-best."

Season tickets for Club Deportivo Chivas USA's inaugural campaign -- an ideal gift for the Holidays -- are already on sale, with prices starting at just 16 dollars per game. The 19-game ChivaBono package includes 16 regular-season games plus three bonus games.

"This will be one of the hottest tickets in the history of MLS," said Whit Haskel, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Club Deportivo Chivas USA. "Fans will get the chance to see nearly 100 years of soccer tradition take on Major League Soccer's winningest franchise in one of the world's finest stadiums."
