Chivas USA downs Loyola Marymount

CARSON, Calif. - Club Deportivo Chivas USA, which continues its preparations for its MLS debut in April 2005, today recorded a 2-1 win over nearby Loyola Marymount University in the Red-and-White's second exhibition match in the United States. The match against Chivas USA forward Arturo Torres' alma mater was played on Field Five of The Home Depot Center complex.


Left-winger Alonso Sandoval enjoyed a successful U.S. debut for Chivas USA. The former Mexican U-23 international came on as a second-half substitute to open the scoring from the penalty spot, while Jesús Ochoa notched the gamewinner with an 85th-minute header, following Tony Chinakwe's 78th-minute equalizer for LMU.

Foul on Jesús Ochoa in the penalty area. Alonso Sandoval beats the LMU keeper to the right with his ensuing left-footed penalty kick.


1-1 (Minute 78):

Tony Chinakwe pounces on a loose ball in front of goalkeeper Brad Guzan's area and scores on a left-footed shot.


2-1 (Minuto 85):

Jesús Ochoa scores on a header off a Francisco Gómez freekick, beating goalkeeper Miguel Benítez.
