Chicago Fire 3, MetroStars 0 -- quotes

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER QUOTE SHEET
SATURDAY, MAY 1, 2004 - CHICAGO FIRE 3, METROSTARS 0

CHICAGO FIRE HEAD COACH DAVE SARACHAN
On the team's overall performance:
"Well, from start to finish I thought it was one of our better games. Our initiative at home is

to be aggressive early and I think tonight, from the start, we were that, but I think we could

have moved the ball a little quicker. When you get the first goal that's huge. Overall a very

solid team performance.

"I haven't seen the stat sheet but I imagine we had quite a few shots tonight. Maybe we could

have had more goals. But defensively we were very solid. I couldn't be more pleased with the

guys."

On the scoring breakthrough:
"I know there's been a lot of talk about us about the lack of scoring. But we've been pretty

good at creating chances. We're a team that is going to get chances to score. We had three and

could have had a couple more tonight. This is the start of more to come."

CHICAGO FIRE FORWARD ANTE RAZOV

On his recovery:
"I got four days of training this week, and that probably hasn't happened since the preseason.

The main thing was getting back and back to training. The not practicing or playing in games

thing wasn't really working and didn't benefit anyone. Hopefully this is behind me. I really

just wanted to get minutes today.

"I feel a lot better, but I do need to work on my fitness. I'm definitely better than I was a

few weeks ago, that's for sure."

CHICAGO FIRE FORWARD DIPSY SELOLWANE

On starting the game:
"I'm happy I started and got a goal. That has to enhance my chances to play more in the future.

I played a lot of minutes and it showed what I could do. I hope the coach is happy with

that.

"There's only so much I could do. If he doesn't start me, I just have to do my best whenever I

get the chance and show that I deserve to be in there. The guys are doing very well right now.

All the forwards scored today. I just have to keep doing what I am doing."

CHICAGO FIRE FORWARD DAMANI RALPH

On his two-game scoring streak:
"I just have to take it one game at a time. I need to keep getting the easy ones and get the

hard ones, too. All three forwards scored today. That's good for the team. We're getting

scoring from up front. So, we'll see next week if we can continue doing it."

METROSTARS HEAD COACH BOB BRADLEY

On the game:
"I think Chicago beat us to the punch today. They were harder on the tackle and seemed to be

more aggressive and I think that had a lot to do with the final result."

METROSTARS FORWARD FABIAN TAYLOR

On the game:
"The game got away from us. It just wasn't our day today. Not much scoring for us."

METROSTARS GOALKEEPER JONNY WALKER

On the team's performance:
"We got beat all over the field, at top, in the middle and in the back. It happened all

over."
