HOW ACQUIRED: Loyd was drafted in the first round (fifth overall) of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.
A tough, cerebral defender capable of playing both fullback and center back, Loyd has been a mainstay for FCD since his rookie year, appearing in 24 league games or more every season. Ranks among Dallas' all-time leaders in minutes played, and racked up a 30-game streak of games started in all competitions at the end of 2014. Loyd led the University of North Carolina to back-to-back trips to the NCAA College Cup in 2008 and 2009, recording seven goals and 10 assists in his four years in Chapel Hill. His wife Casey (née Nogueira) was also a standout collegiate and professional player at UNC and with several clubs in WPS and NWSL; also earned several USWNT caps.

INTERNATIONAL: Following Dallas’ run to MLS Cup in 2010, Loyd was among several FCD standouts called into the US national team's 2011 January camp. He earned his first cap by starting and playing 73 minutes against Chile on Jan. 22.
