HOW ACQUIRED: Traded from Houston on December 23, 2016.
Since entering MLS in 2011, Bruin has been one of the most consistent goalscorers in the league. Despite his hulking size, the former Indiana forward has done most of work in the channels and maneuvering his behind the defensive line. The striker helped the Dynamo make it to the 2011 and 2012 MLS Cups and his 46 goals since 2011 are the sixth most in the league. After a disappointing 2016, he will look to have a resurgence with the Sounders in 2017.
INTERNATIONAL: Called into US national camp in January 2013, making a substitute appearance against Canada. Called up prior to the 2013 Gold Cup and made an appearance against Guatemala in the run-up to the tournament. Did not make an appearance during the Gold Cup.
COLLEGE: Played three seasons at Indiana, scoring 18 goals in his final season at the Big Ten school. Was a semifinalist for the MAC Herrmann trophy in his junior season.
