2014: Won the first MLS Rookie of the Year award in FC Dallas history by scoring seven goals and three assists in 26 regular season matches (18 games started)… Scored his first goal in a 2-1 loss in LA on May 21… Picked up his first career assist in a 2-2 draw in Portland on June 11… Scored in back-to-back games (7/4 – 7/19), both wins against Philadelphia and New England… Scored his first career game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory against Chivas USA in LA on Aug. 3… Netted his first career hat-trick in a 5-0 win in San Jose on Aug. 16… Scored his first career playoff goal in a 2-1 win against Vancouver at Toyota Stadium on Oct. 29.


2015: Called in by U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann for a camp in Carson, Calif., Jan. 12 through Feb. 8… Returned from camp early due to not being Cap-tied to the U.S. (eligible to play for either the U.S. or Canada).


A native of Thornton, Colo., Akindele played four seasons for the Colorado School of Mines where the 6’1” forward became the school’s all-time goals leader with 76 goals scored. He ranked second in the nation in goals scored in 2012 with 22 and was named a First Team NSCAA All-American and the 2012 RMAC Offensive Player of the Year for his efforts.

Also an NSCAA First Team All-American and the RMAC Freshman of the Year in 2010, Akindele was the first player in the history of his school’s conference to score three consecutive hat tricks.
