Utility defender/midfielder who was forced to overcome injuries throughout his career.

What Scouts Say: "Strong, tough central defender and right back ... Non-descript utility player ... Can play multiple positions: defensive midfielder, right back and centerback … Athleticism is a stregnth. He's a stocky, muscular, 6-foot athlete … He's good on the ball, but not great. He's also a good passer, but not great … Think of a poor man's Ricardo Clark … Needs to work on his consistency with his first touch and his distribution ... He redshirted in 2011 and 2012 was his comeback year and he struggled some."

College (Cal-Berkeley): Played in every game as a freshman in 2008, missed some matches as a sophomore in 2009 due to injury and in 2010 he came back to play 16 matches, notching an assist in a College Cup match vs. Akron. He redshirted in 2011 (reportedly for personal reasons) and concluded his Cal career starting all 15 matches he played as a 5th-year senior in 2012.

Club: Played club soccer for Marin FC and captained his side for three years.

High School: Redwood High School ... Started every varsity game at Redwood High School since his freshman year ... Named to the all-league team all four years and was a captain for his final three seasons ... Persevered through a nine-month recovery after breaking his tibia and his fibula in his final year of high school.

Personal: Anthropology major ... Walked in graduation ceremony after 2012 spring semester ... Parents are Booker (writer) and Nanine Jones (former English teacher) ...
