Career Summary

An experienced MLS professional, Rogers has made over 180 appearances across two spells in the league. Rogers has won two different MLS Cup championships, with the Crew and the Galaxy. His versatility enables him to play on both the left and right side of the field. While with the Galaxy, Rogers has transitioned to playing on the backline, but he was known as a skillful attacker in his first spell in the league with the Columbus Crew.

OUTSIDE MLS: Rogers passed up his three remaining seasons of eligibility at the University of Maryland to sign with SC Heerenveen, one of the top teams in the Dutch first division, in August 2006. Played with Heerenveen’s reserves, getting time in five games, including three starts, and scoring two goals. Scored his first goal in just his second match with the reserves to help defeat PSV, 3-1, on 9/8. Scored his second goal against FC Twente on 9/26 in a 3-0 win. Secured his release in Feb. 2007 to sign with MLS. He signed with Leeds United in England in January 2012 and went on to make four appearances for the club. Made six appearances on loan to Stevenage FC in England.

INTERNATIONAL: Rogers has 18 international caps with the USMNT. He has also represented the U.S. extensively at the U-23, U-20, U-18 and U-17 levels. In 2008, he was a member of the U.S. Olympic Team that competed in Beijing, China, starting in all three Olympic matches for the U.S. In 2007, Rogers competed at the U-20 World Cup in Canada, helped lead the U.S. to an impressive 3-1-1 record in a five-game run to the quarterfinals.

COLLEGE: Spent one year at the University of Maryland, where he helped the Terrapins to the 2005 NCAA championship. He started 20 of the 22 matches in which he saw action, scoring seven goals and registering five assists. Rogers earned honorable mention on the SoccerTimes.com Men’s All-American team. Selected to ACC All-Conference Freshman team, Top Drawer Soccer Rookie Team of the Year, Soccer America All-Freshman second team, and College Soccer News All-Freshmen third team.
