Acquired

RSL: Selected in the fourth round (54th overall) of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft on 1/15/09

One of Real Salt Lake's acknowledged needs this past offseason was for a traditional left-footed midfielder, and the squad managed to fill at least its void in depth at that position when selecting talented winger Raphael Cox. The two-time All-Pac-10 selection out of the University of Washington has speed to burn and skill to match, and will be expected to challenge defenses with his pace and crossing ability.

After beginning his collegiate days with a season at Highline Community College, Raphael Cox moved to the Division I ranks at the University of Washington, where he tallied 14 goals and 17 assists in 59 games from 2006-08. Cox twice earned All-Pac-10 honors, including following his senior season last fall, when his seven-goal, six-assist campaign earned the Tacoma native a nod to the conference's First-Team.
