The Sao Paulo native began his soccer career with Sao Paulo FC and Arsenal before coming to the United States to play for the LA Galaxy in 2005, winning the MLS Cup and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in his first season. He’s also played for Toronto FC and Chivas USA in MLS, becoming an MLS All-Star in 2009 before going on loan toTigres UANL in Mexico. Sporting Kansas City acquired Nagamura in November 2011 and he scored the winning penalty kick in the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final shootout at Sporting Park.
2013: MLS: Nagamura started 17 matches as a midfielder in 2013. He gained his first assist of the season during Sporting's 4-0 win over Chivas USA. CCL: Started and played 78 minutes in a 2-0 win at CD Olimpia on August 27. Open Cup: Started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss to Orlando City SC on June 12.
2012: Nagamura appeared in 27 games for Sporting Kansas City during the 2012 regular season. Nagamura’s lone goal came as an equalizer in the 60th minute in Sporting KC’s 2-1 victory over Toronto FC on September 1 at Sporting Park (Video). Nagamura also notched the game-winning assist in the victory. Nagamura also scored the first and last goals in Sporting Kansas City’s run for the 2012 Lamara Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Nagamura opened the scoring in the tournament on May 29 in the 47th minute, helping Sporting KC earn the 3-2 victory over Orlando City SC before converting the winning penalty kick during te shoot-out in which Sporting won the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on August 8th
2011: Nagamura joined Sporting Kansas City on November 29th in a trade with Chivas USA, after appearing in 11 matches during the 2011 MLS season.
2007-2010: After being taken by Toronto FC in the Expansion Draft and playing four matches for the club, Nagamura joined Chivas USA in May 2007 following a trade and became a key player in Chivas USA lineup, appearing in 88 matches and recording nine goals and eight assists from the midfield. He was named the team's Defender of the Year in 2008 and went on to become a 2009 MLS All-Star upon scoring four goals in his first 11 matches and was later loaned to Tigres UANL of the Mexican First Division for a six-month stint before returning to Chivas USA in July 2010.
2005-2006: Moved to the United States in 2005 and joined the LA Galaxy, where he won both the MLS Cup and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in his first season. Appeared in 54 games for the Galaxy, tallying six assists in the two seasons.
In 2001, Nagamura joined Arsenal FC in England, where his Under-19 team won its league in 2002. Most recently was with Tigres UANL of the Mexican First Division where he played 14 matches for the club in the Bicentenario 2010 season.
