HOW ACQUIRED: Selected by Orlando City in Stage 1 of the 2016 MLS Re-Entry Draft on December 16, 2016.
Excellent with his feet and a commanding presence in the box, the 6-foot-3 McLain is off to Orlando after a year behind Sean Johnson and Matt Lampson in Chicago. He made one appearance in 2016, on the final day of the season in a 3-2 loss to Toronto FC. He’ll most likely back up Joe Bendik in 2016.
OUTSIDE MLS: McLain spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons in USL, appearing in 15 matches for the Orange County Blues in 2014 before taking the full-time starting job for Sacramento Republic FC in 2015. He appeared in 29 matches across all competitions for Republic FC, and recorded 71 saves, six shutouts and racking up an 11-8-5 record in 24 USL contests.
COLLEGE: Played at Cal Poly from 2008-2011, twice winning second-team All-Big West recognition and setting the school record with a .835 save percentage.
