Rafael Márquez is one of the most decorated players in the history of the Mexican National Team. He is capable of playing as a centerback or a defensive midfielder.

Márquez made his first appearances with El Tri and has registered over 100 caps since. This will be his fourth World Cup after appearing in all of Mexico's games in the 2002, 2006, and 2010 World Cups.
Starting his career with Atlas, Márquez quickly moved to Europe and played with AS Monaco for four years. In 2003 he transferred to FC Barcelona and became an integral part of a team that won La Liga four times (2004-05, 2005-06, 2008-09, 2009-10) and the UEFA Champions League twice (2005-06, 2008-09). After Barcelona he was acquired by the New York Red Bulls and he spent two and a half seasons in MLS. Currently he plays for León in Liga MX, where he won the 2013 Apertura tournament.
