A product of Chivas Guadalajara’s youth academy, Martin Aaron Ponce played in all youth category teams as part of his development. Most recently he was a member of Chivas Rayadas, a second-division team in Mexico’s Liga Premier.
As a member of Mexico’s youth national team, Ponce competed in the 2009 U-17 FIFA World Cup in Nigeria. In that tournament, the native of Guanajuato, México, saw action in two games before being sent home one game into the Second Round.
With the addition of Ponce, Chivas USA’s roster now has a total of four players who have participated with Mexico’s youth national teams: Giovanni Casillas, Édgar Mejía and Julio Morales are the other three.
