How Acquired: Signed with the Revolution as an international player on March 26, 2010

A dynamic, left-footed midfielder who is comfortable on the left side or playing behind the forwards in a five-man midfield or as a withdrawn forward … has excellent vision and a very good soccer mind … is keen on pushing the attack up the field, and getting other players involved … has a very accurate left foot, both in the run of play and off set pieces … brings extensive experience at the top levels of European soccer to MLS ... signed with the club on March 26, 2010, but officially joined the team on April 9 after completing his U.S. immigration process.

2010: The 2010 Revolution Most Valuable Player, as voted by the fans. Made 25 appearances, including 24 starts, scoring a team-high six goals in MLS action while adding three assists. Made his MLS debut in the 70th minute of the home opener against Toronto FC (April 10), and followed with his first career start in the following game at San Jose (April 17). Scored his first MLS goal on a free kick in the 19th minute against Colorado (April 24). Received a red card in the 29th minute against Chivas USA (May 5) and was suspended for the following game at Columbus (May 8). Picked up his second tally of the season when he scored in the eighth minute of the Revs’ 3-2 win over New York (May 29). His free kick goal proved to be the game-winning goal in the Revs’ 2-0 win over LA (July 10). Scored a 35-yard free kick to salvage a 1-1 draw at Philadelphia (July 31). Scored his fifth MLS goal at Chicago (Aug. 18) in the run of play, and added his sixth goal - the game-winning strike - against Seattle (Sept. 4), but also picked up his fifth yellow card of the season and missed the game at Chivas USA (Sept. 10). Recorded his first-career assist at Dallas (Sept. 22) on countryman Ilija Stolica’s goal in the 66th minute. His second-minute free kick set up Pat Phelan’s goal against Columbus (Sept. 25). Picked up an assist in the third straight game when he helped set up Sainey Nyassi’s 82nd-minute goal against Real Salt Lake (Oct. 2). Started all five SuperLiga matches, scoring two goals and adding one assist. Started on the right wing against Pumas UNAM (July 14), where he recorded an assist on Zack Schilawski’s game-winning goal. Started at withdrawn forward at Chicago (July 17), and scored the game-winning goal in the 77th minute, and repeated the effort against Monarcas Morelia (July 20) with another game-winning goal in the 62nd minute. Left in the 33rd minute of the Revs semifinal match against Puebla (Aug. 4) with a left calf strain.

BEFORE MLS: Began his playing career with Serbian Superliga club Red Star Belgrade in 2000 after playing in FK Pristina’s youth system … made 90 appearances with Red Star Belgrade between 2000 and 2008, scoring 10 goals … after a brief loan to Jedinstvo Ub in 2003 – where he scored eight goals in 14 appearances – he returned to Red Star Belgrade and was eventually loaned out to FC Basel in the Swiss first division in 2008 … in June 2008, signed with FC Basel where he made 28 appearances, scored eight goals and performed for the club during its run in the 2008-09 UEFA Champions League against Barcelona (ESP), FC Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR) and Sporting (POR).
