Madjid Bouguerra

Madjid Bougherra is the current captain of the Algerian national team. The centerback will be playing his second World Cup, having started all three games in South Africa.

ALGERIAN NATIONAL TEAM

He registered his first cap in 2004 and has never left the squad since. With 60 caps, Bougherra is identified as one of the key players for the Algerian National Team. He is an agressive defender and dangerous on set pieces.

CLUB CAREER

He joined French Ligue 2 side Gueugnon in 2002 and played 49 games in four years. After three years in England, including one season in the EPL with Charlton Athletic, Bougherra joined Scottish powerhouse Glasgow Rangers in 2008. He was part of three consecutive Scottish Premier League championship seasons and two UEFA Champions League campaigns.

He currently plays for Qatar’s Lekhwiya SC in the Qatar Stars League.
