The twenty-four year-old Soto joined Chivas USA during preseason of the 2013 season. Soto, who was born in Fort Worth Texas, spent his college soccer career playing at Campbell and Southern Methodist University. During his collegiate career, he was named Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Year, and second team NSCAA all-Midwest region.
Soto played for the USL Carolina Dynamo while in college, and joined the Houston Dynamo as a homegrown player after graduating. While Soto never appeared for the Dynamo in an MLS match, he appeared in friendlies and reserve matches, before eventually being loaned to the NASL San Antonio Scorpions.
