Sporting Kansas City announced on August 9, 2013 the club has acquired Colombian midfielder Jimmy Medranda on loan from Deportivo Pereira.
Medranda joined the youth program of Colombian side Deportivo Pereira as a 12-year-old before climbing the ladder to the senior team. Over the past two seasons, the 19-year-old midfielder made 16 appearances in all competitions for the senior team and tallied two goals.
2014: MLS regular season: Appeared in five matches with one start. Made his first career start for the club on March 15 in a 1-1 draw against FC Dallas. MLS Playoffs: Did not feature. CCL: Made one substitute appearance in the 2014-15 group stage, playing six minutes in a 3-0 win over Real Esteli on Sept. 23. Open Cup: Did not feature. Friendly: Played 45 minutes in a 4-1 Champions Shield defeat to Manchester City on July 23 at Sporting Park. USL PRO: Was loaned to USL PRO affiliate OKC Energy FC on July 9. Made his Energy FC debut on July 12, playing 54 minutes as a starter. Played 412 minutes in nine matches before returning to Sporting KC on Sept. 1.
2013: MLS: Made his debut as a stoppage-time sub in a 3-0 win over the Columbus Crew on September 7. Tallied one shot on goal in the match.
