Drafted by Real Salt Lake in the first round (14th overall) of the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft but not signed to a contract, Attinella returned to the Claret-and-Cobalt when he signed with the team in December 2012.
The Clearwater, Fla. native is far more experienced than most goalkeepers his age, having made 52 total appearances for the NASL Tampa Bay Rowdies in 2011 and 2012. Attinella had a huge 2012, leading the Rowdies to the NASL title, finishing second in NASL MVP voting and earning a spot on the league Best XI.
Attinella will likely be RSL’s third-string goalkeeper behind starter Nick Rimando and probable backup Josh Saunders in 2013.
