Hustedt was a second-round selection of the Quakes during the 2012 MLS SuperDraft, No. 25 overall.

A native of Sandy, Utah, Hustedt played his senior season at the University of Washington in 2011 after spending three years at Cal Poly. He provided six goals and five assists while starting 17 of 18 games played and leading the Huskies to a 12-4-2 record en route to All-Pacific-12 Conference First Team distinction. At Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Calif., Hustedt compiled six goals and seven assists in 57 matches and was named to the All-Big West Conference Second Team as a sophomore.
