Hustedt was a second-round selection of the Quakes during the 2012 MLS SuperDraft, No. 25 overall.
A native of Sandy, Utah, Hustedt played his senior season at the University of Washington in 2011 after spending three years at Cal Poly. He provided six goals and five assists while starting 17 of 18 games played and leading the Huskies to a 12-4-2 record en route to All-Pacific-12 Conference First Team distinction. At Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Calif., Hustedt compiled six goals and seven assists in 57 matches and was named to the All-Big West Conference Second Team as a sophomore.

2009 (Sophomore): Named to the All-Big West Conference second team after finishing third among Mustangs in shot attempts (26) and fourth in points (six) ... scored both of his goals during a 4-0 romp against Sacramento State (Sept. 18) ... registered assists on Daniel Cumming's match-winning strike in a 1-0 home victory against UC Davis (Oct. 4) and on Patrick Sigler's goal during a 2-1 loss at then-No. 22 UC Irvine (Oct. 21) ... started all 20 matches and finished third among Mustangs with 1,572 minutes played.
2008 (Freshman): Started 17 times and appeared in all 23 matches as a true freshman ... first collegiate goal was the game-winning strike during a 3-1 defeat of Kentucky (Sept. 7) ... also scored during a 2-0 home shutout of UC Davis (Nov. 2) ... earned assists during a 3-2 home overtime victory against Cal State Bakersfield (Sept. 24), a 3-0 home triumph versus Cal State Fullerton and a 2-0 home triumph versus UC Davis (Nov. 2).
