A product of Wake Forest University, Opara was drafted by the San Jose Earthquakes in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft as a Generation adidas signing. Opara suffered severe injuries in early 2014 and 2015. Before the premature ending to his 2015 season, Opara was the talk of the league for two headed goals and three MLS team of the week nods in the month of March alone. If Opara can remain healthy for the whole season, he will look to become one of the elite center backs in the league.
