Giorgi Chirgadze

As the first player to sign for New York under the Home Grown Player rule, the club is excited about Chirgadze’s potential. Chirgadze missed much of the 2010 season due to injury, but looks to come into the 2011 season healthy and ready to compete for playing time. A gifted offensive player, Chirgadze is a dangerous attacker who can score and set up opportunites for his teammates.

2010: Was placed on the team’s Disabled List in preseason before being activated on Sept.16. Did not feature for the first team. 2009: Was not eligible to appear with the First Team due to Home Grown Player rule signing.

Club:
Joined the Red Bulls Academy program in 2005 with the Under-15 side. He also captained the Red Bulls Under-18 side that defeated the Inter Milan Under-17 team, 3-1, providing two of the three goals.

Personal:
Favorite player is Ronaldinho and favorite team is Manchester United. Lists the U-18’s win over Inter Milan as his favorite soccer memory. Favorite TV show is The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and would be a doctor if he did not play soccer professionally.
