Míchael Umaña has been one of Costa Rica’s top centerback’s for the the better part of a decade. He has moved around to many different clubs over the course of his long career, including Chivas USA and the LA Galaxy in MLS.

Umaña played all 270 minutes for the Ticos in the 2006 World Cup and has been one of the nation’s top defenders ever since. He has been a consistent presence on the Ticos backline for World Cup qualifiers and Gold Cups.
Umaña has played for all the top teams in his home country, including Herediano, Brujas, and Saprissa, the team he plays for currently. In 2005 he was part of the Galaxy side that took home the US Open and MLS Cups. He came back to MLS in 2010 with Chivas USA and made 50 appearances in his two seasons back in LA.
